Vacating retail and commercial tenants are responsible for removing all fittings and fixtures, and restoring their space to its original state at the end of their lease. This process, known as a commercial de-fit, “make-good”, or “strip-out”, brings the property back to a “blank slate” status for the next tenant to fit-out as required for their own purposes.
A commercial make good is when a tenant needs to return a property or space, to its original condition before handing back the keys at the end of a lease. Leaving the property in a clean, tidy and fresh state is paramount to end of lease negotiations and agreements.
