Wentworth Point Library Security Door Fit-out

It’s a great feeling when you can collaborate with another B2B company for your mutual benefit. Here at CMLS Commercial Interiors, we recently had this very experience when we, for the first time, undertook a new project on behalf of a security/access company that has worked for us on multiple projects over many years.

The Wentworth Point Public Library, which is located within the Wentworth Point Community Centre hub, was installing new security sliding doors. They previously had existing manual metal sliding doors in position. While these served their purpose, the issue for staff and visitors to the library was that once locked into position, nobody could gain access. The library sought to install new automated sliding access doors so that people with access cards could gain secure access to the library 24/7, enhancing the safety of library staff and patrons at all times of the day and night, including when the library is closed to the general public.

Our Project

New walls needed to be installed for the security sliding doors to be mounted upon.

At the outset, our works area had to be boarded off from the public, as it was in a public thoroughfare within the community hub. This was not just for public and staff safety, but also the smooth operation of the project and to minimise disruption to and liability for all parties and other users of the building. We facilitated this, putting up the required boarding and taping down all essential electricals to maximise safety during the installation process.

We then got to work installing two brand new plasterboard walls at the library entrance. These had extra head support for the attachment of the new automated security sliding doors, which were to be provided and installed by the security/access company.

We painted the new walls to match the existing paintwork of the library and to complement its décor. Once the wall installation was complete and our job was done, we removed all of the temporary boardings, revealing the brand-new, streamlined security sliding door installation.

The results speak for themselves!

The library benefits enormously from this project:

  • The old metal sliding doors no longer need to be manually opened and closed each day.
  • The new security sliding doors can be set on a timer to automatically open and close throughout the day during commercial hours of operation.
  • Staff have 24/7 swipe card access to the new security doors for after-hours access.
  • Swipe-card access is a cost-effective, key-free solution that enables the facility to monitor who comes and goes and when, as well as providing cards to eligible patrons as an effective marketing tool.
  • Staff and access-granted patrons are safer (and feel safer), especially when using the library facilities late at night (the Quiet Study Room at this library is available to access card-holding patrons from 9 am-11 pm, seven days per week).
